What Should I Bring?
Here's a list of things you could consider bringing. We know you’ll have your own needs and preferences, but we thought it might be helpful to consider what else to bring.
Early Check-In or Late Check Out?
From early check-ins, to late check-outs, and local massages, see what we offer in our store.
Heating and Cooling
You will find three AC units conveniently located around the cabin. Feel free to turn them on/off or adjust as needed. Make sure the windows throughout the rest of the cabin are closed for maximum efficiency.
If you would like to enjoy some fresh air, be sure to make sure the AC(s) are off before opening the windows. Please note that the front windows are locked and unable to be open for safety reasons. If you have young children and would like to open the side living room windows, place the safety bar (located in the master bedroom closet) across first.
Dehumidifier - Please turn on either the AC or dehumidifier during humid, summer days. This keeps the lower floor dry and comfortable.
In the shoulder seasons, you may need a bit of heat on those chilly, Maine nights. There is a thermostat located above the basement TV which controls the baseboard heating. Set to the desired temperature. The bathroom has a smaller heater behind the door which can be turned on using the dial. Please turn off and lower the thermostat when the cabin gets to a comfortable temperature.
TV and WIFI
Wifi name and password is located on a sign in the cabin.
Before you log in to your favorite streaming apps, be sure to enter Guest Mode on the Roku. This will allow you to enter your check out date so all of your streaming services will be signed out the day you leave.
Board Games
There are a selection of board games, puzzles, books and playing cards located on the shelves on the bookshelf in the basement. Feel free to enjoy these! We just ask you to keep the games organized and tidy for the next player's enjoyment.
Trash
The trash pail is located in the cabinet under the coffee maker. Please bring all trash to the cans located at the top of the driveway. Please be sure all trash is contained within larger trash bags and no loose trash is placed in the cans. Trash pickup days are Saturday mornings. Thank you for helping us keep our property tidy!
Laundry
Located in the basement bathroom, we currently have a washer and dryer that is available for guest use. There should be a supply of detergent and dryer sheets that you are welcome to use.
Grill
The BBQ grill outside is propane. The tanks should be sufficiently filled with propane for your grilling needs, however if you find a tank to be low or empty, please replace it with the back up tank located in the shed closest to the lake. Be sure to tighten the hose/ tank fixture securely to ensure a safe/ snug fit. Please make sure you leave the grill clean to avoid any additional cleaning fees. Grilling utensils are hanging behind the kitchen door.
Powered Awning
There is an electric powered awning that provides some much needed shade during the afternoon hours. To extend, use the remote located on the center of the wall of windows facing the lake. We do not recommend you use this on windy days, as it will automatically retract if it senses too much movement. Please retract when not in use.
Kayaks, Paddle Boat, Life Jackets
The kayaks, paddle boat, and lake toys are all for guest use. We strongly suggest guests bring their own life jackets to ensure a proper fit and encourage even the strongest of swimmers to wear them when entering the water. Our extras are located in the guest shed, the one closest to the lake. Please place the kayaks upside down on the boards on the lawn and leave the paddles alongside them. Hang all life jackets in the guest shed after use.
Please note, our paddle boat is a bit like a grumpy old hippo—heavy and resistant to being flipped. This means rainwater can collect in the seat, and algae can start a party within a day or two. We do our best to keep it clean between guests, but we’d love your help to keep it fresh. Your teamwork helps us keep this fun amenity available for everyone to enjoy!
Maine State Law requires that anyone using watercraft must have a life jacket on board at all times. Additionally, children under 10 must wear a life jacket whenever they are in a boat. Please note that we are not liable for any tickets or fines issued by a Maine Game Warden for non-compliance with these laws. Use of the kayaks and swimming are at your own risk, so please exercise caution and your best judgment when enjoying these activities.
Mooring Your Boat
Got a boat? Fantastic! We’ve got the perfect spot for you. Our mooring is for guest use and is the one closest to the home. When you're briefly coming and going, you may secure your boat to the dock. For the protection of our dock and your boat, please use the mooring overnight or for extended periods of time. Happy boating!
Firepit
The firepit is located in the yard overlooking the lake. Firewood is not provided on site, but we recommend purchasing bundles in the local area. Scapes Cafe and other private sellers have firewood bundles for purchase.
Before leaving your fire for the night, please ensure it has been completely extinguished by pouring some water over the coals. We ask that nothing other than firewood and paper are burned in the fire pit. Thanks for being considerate!
Outdoor Chairs & Table
We’ve got some comfy plastic Adirondack chairs stacked by the fire pit just for you. After you’re done lounging, please restack them. The winds can get a bit playful and might send those chairs on a swim in the lake!
